Docusign Envelope ID: 80D71 DF6-AF49-4713-875D-OF02DOF40AB8 WHEREAS, on April 30, 1975, the Republic of Viet Nam ceased to exist fo llowing the Fall of Saigon, fo rcing tens of thousands of families to flee their homeland and seek refuge abroad; WHEREAS, since 1975 , Santa Clara County has served as one of three congressionally designated refugee resettlement sites fo r the Vietnamese diaspora, with San Jose now home to the largest Vietnamese population outside of Viet Nam. The Vietnamese American community has flourished in Santa Clara County over the past fifty years, making invaluable contributions to the region 's economy, culture, and overall quali ty of life ; WHEREAS, the United Vietnamese American Community of Northern California (Ci;mg D6ng Vi~t My B~c Cali) was officially established in 2023 as a civic league made up of more than fifty nonprofit organizations and community leaders, including veterans, fonner public servants, educators, legal professionals, artists, and engineers united in their mission to preserve Vietnamese heritage, promote democracy, and foster civic engagement across generations and cultures.
