Williams, County Executive Dana Reed, Director of Emergency Management SUBJECT: NWS StormReady Recognition RECOMMENDED ACTION Adopt Proclamation recognizing and affirming the National Weather Service's “StormReady” recognition of the County of Santa Clara. (Office of the County Executive) FISCAL IMPLICATIONS There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION On March 18, 2026, the National Weather Service (NWS) assessed and subsequently recognized the County of Santa Clara as StormReady®, an official NWS recognition. This is noteworthy because Santa Clara County faces unique weather challenges with its diverse geography from a coastal mountain range to a large valley floor as well as the San Francisco Bay coastline and inland mountains. Across the county the specific micro-climates and weather vulnerabilities require tailored preparedness and response strategies.
