Family Reunification Day celebrates families and communities by coming together to raise awareness about the importance of reunification for children and families in the County’s child welfare system. COMMENDATION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING SANTA CLARA COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY FAMILY UNIFICATION PROGRAM TEAM WHEREAS, for children in foster care, reunification with their families is the preferred outcome and best option for a permanent and loving home; WHEREAS, all children need the care, love, security and stability of family unity, including parents, siblings, grandparents, and other extended family members to provide a solid foundation for personal growth, development, and maturity; WHEREAS, reunification takes work, commitment, and the investment of time and resources by parents, family members, social workers, resource families, service providers, attorneys, courts, and the community; WHEREAS, 2010 marked the first National Reunification Day designated to celebrate families and communities coming together, to acknowledge the hard work it takes to reunify a family, and to raise awareness about the importance of family reunification to children in foster care; WHEREAS, Santa Clara County is recognizing Family Reunification Day on Friday, May 29, 2026, to acknowledge the unique efforts of our local families and...
