Rosen, District Attorney SUBJECT: Ratify California DOJ Grant Application RECOMMENDED ACTION Ratify Grant Application submitted by Office of the District Attorney to the California Department of Justice relating to grant funding for efforts to combat tobacco sales to minors in the amount of $2,697,291 for period April 1, 2027 through March 31, 2030. FISCAL IMPLICATIONS There is no net fiscal impact to the General Fund associated with the approval of the recommended action. If the grant is awarded, the Office of the District Attorney (DAO) will return to the Board with recommended budget actions for approval, with the anticipation that additional revenues would be offset by additional expenditures. CONTRACT HISTORY The DAO has a history of grant agreements with the California Department of Justice. However, this is a new funding opportunity. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION If awarded, this grant would fund a dedicated Tobacco Retailer Enforcement Team focused on reducing illegal tobacco sales to minors and aggressively addressing the unlawful sale of flavored...
