(Probation Department) REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION Abel Mendoza has been an outstanding contributor to the County of Santa Clara Probation Department. Details of his public service are annotated on the attached commendation. STEPS FOLLOWING APPROVAL The Office of Clerk of the Board is requested to contact Nam Pham, Duy Nguyen, and Darlene Nguyen from the Probation Department to arrange pick up of one executed copy of the framed commendation. Docusign Envelope ID: 6A75470C-5FD4-8DD4-80F3-159894135DA2 RETIREE COMMENDATION WHEREAS, Abel Mendoza has devoted 27 years of service to the County of Santa Clara, and during that time, has demonstrated the highest level of integrity, leadership, professionalism, collaboration, and dedication to the Probation Department and the County; WHEREAS, Abel Mendoza began his career with the County of Santa Clara Probation Department in October 1998 as an Extra Help Group Counselor and became a full-time Group Counselor in July 1999 where he supported and facilitated thoughtful rehabilitation of countless youth in his care; WHEREAS, Abel Mendoza was promoted to Deputy Probation Officer in June 2001 and worked in both Adult and Juvenile services in numerous roles including General Supervision, Domestic Violence, PreSentence Investigations, Juvenile Supervision, and the High-Risk Offenders Unit. Abel Mendoza was among the rarified few Deputy Probation Officers to complete firearms training and serve as an armed officer in the High-Risk Offenders Unit facilitating the transition of high-risk clients as defined by Assembly Bill 109; WHEREAS, Abel Mendoza was promoted to Supervising Probation...
