As a parent, this unexpected reduction in pay will mean that as of August 17, I will be forced to make difficult choices about the food I put on the table for my family. As a Social Worker in Program Audit, I will still be required to complete the same trainings, and have the same solid understanding of child welfare as the other near 300 social workers in DFCS. However, last week I was notified that as of August 17, 2026, I will no longer receive the DFCS differential because I am being moved to the Agency Office. SSA claims to value equity, inclusion and keeping families strong. This is not equitable nor is it modeling the behavior that is expected of employees. It is singling out eight people and telling them that their time and skills are now worth less because the Agency decided to...
