County of Santa Clara Office of the County Counsel 129978 DATE: August 11, 2026 TO: Board of Supervisors FROM: Tony LoPresti, County Counsel SUBJECT: Consider recommendations relating to State Workers’ Rights Enforcement Grant Program RECOMMENDED ACTION Approve delegation of authority to the County Counsel, or designee, to submit grant applications and enter into, negotiate, execute, or amend any contracts, agreements, or other documents deemed necessary and appropriate to apply for and accept up to $5,000,000 in grant funding from the Workers’ Rights Enforcement Grant program operated by the State of California Labor Commissioner’s Office for period August 11, 2026 through December 31, 2031, following approval by County Counsel as to form and legality, and approval by the Office of the County Executive. Delegation of authority shall expire on December 31, 2031. FISCAL IMPLICATIONS Submission of grant applications would have no impact on the County General Fund. If grant funds are awarded and a grant agreement is executed, County Counsel and/or Administration would return to the Board of Supervisors (Board) with recommended implementing actions to recognize grant funds.
