BACKGROUND Since December 2020, the Office of Correction and Law Enforcement Monitoring (OCLEM) has been auditing the Sheriff’s Office and other County agencies’ implementation of the 623 specific recommendations stemming from the jail reform efforts that began in 2016. In our seventh report on that ongoing audit (April 8, 2025), we identified seven areas where the work related to the remaining recommendations being audited was still in progress, and recommended organizing our future monitoring efforts and reports around those seven categories.
