FISCAL IMPLICATIONS There are no fiscal implications associated with receiving this report. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION On November 2, 2021 (Item No. 10), the Board of Supervisors (BOS) requested the Sheriff’s Office and the Probation Department provide a report to the BOS on December 7, 2021 with options for regular reporting on all use of force (UOF) incidents within all custody settings, including details about date of occurrence, type of force used, reason for force used, and other pertinent details, redacted to the least extent possible to protect sensitive information. At the request of then Vice President Ellenberg and Supervisor Chavez, the BOS further requested that the Sheriff and Administration report to the BOS on December 7, 2021, with options for regular public reporting on workplace injuries and incidents. Although CCLEM did not approve specific recommendations for the Board’s consideration, commissioners made several requests. CCLEM voted 6-0, authorizing the CCLEM Chair to send a memorandum informing the Board of CCLEM’s interests and priorities. Commissioners were appreciative of the detailed and transparent report. Some commissioners noted that the reports continue to improve each year.
