W HEREAS, the Vesak Festival, internationally recognized by the United Nations in 1999, is one of the most significant WHEREAS, this sacred occasion highlights the core Buddhist values of wisdom, compassion, and peace, inspiring individuals and communities to foster understanding, unity, and service in an increasingly interconnected world; WHEREAS, the 2026 Vesak Festival in Northern California will be held April 17-19 at Lake Cunningham Park in San Jose and will feature Venerable Thich Phap Hoa as a special guest; WHEREAS, Venerable Thich Phap Hoa is a well-respected Vietnamese Buddhist monk who has held positions as the abbot of True Lam Monastery in 2006 and Westlock Meditation Centre in 2007, and is known for his teachings and lectures covering a wide range of topics, including love, family, and compassion; and WHEREAS, Venerable Thich Phap Hoa will give a Dharrna Talk (Phap Phap Viln Dap) and lead teachings on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Vesak Festival in San Jose, California.
