W HEREAS, the Vesak Festival, internationally recognized by the United Nations in 1999, is one of the most significant WHEREAS, this sacred occasion highlights the core Buddhist values of wisdom, compassion, and peace, inspiring individuals and communities to foster understanding, unity, and service in an increasingly interconnected world; WHEREAS, Venerable Nun Ti~n Lien serves as the Head of the Organizing Committee for the 2026 Vesak Festival in San Jose, California, to be held April 17-19 at Lake Cunningham Park; WHEREAS, born in Saigon, Vietnam, Venerable Nun Ti~n Lien was ordained in the Khiit Si (Mendicant) Buddhist tradition and immigrated to the United States in 1991; and WHEREAS, in 1996, Venerable Nun Ti~n Lien founded Ngoc Minh Monastery in San Diego, California, and established the Vietnamese Khiit Si Buddhist Association in the United States. In 2008, she relocated to San Jose, where she assumed leadership of Phip Duyen Tjnh Xi, and in 2009, she founded Ngoc Hoa Monastery.
