Docusign Envelope ID: 1F79202D-5E8E-4588-8FBC-FA7F058B6D1B WHEREAS, in the United States individuals are booked into jails 7.6 million times per year and one in four of them will be rearrested in that same year, often due to poverty, mental illness, and substance use disorders; WHEREAS, 28,863 individuals were released from Santa Clara County jails from Oct. 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025; WHEREAS, of the 7,907 individuals who sought Reentry Resource Center services in fiscal year 2024/2025, 37% were homeless, another 22% had only transitional housing, and 55% were unemployed and looking for work, making successful reentry back into the community exceedingly difficult without some initial assistance; WHEREAS, the County of Santa Clara embraces Second Chance Month as an opportunity to highlight the collaborative reentry efforts in which county departments and community organizations participate, such as the employment and resource fair for formerly incarcerated individuals hosted by the Adult Probation Department and the Office of Diversion and Reentry Services on April 29, 2026 at the Adult Probation Department; WHEREAS, the Office of Diversion and Reentry Services and its...
