(Probation Department) REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION Nydia Smith has been an outstanding contributor to the County of Santa Clara Probation Department. Details of her public service are annotated on the attached commendation. STEPS FOLLOWING APPROVAL The Office of Clerk of the Board is requested to contact Nam Pham, Duy Nguyen, Darlene Nguyen, and Tiffany Deng from the Probation Department to arrange pick up of one executed copy of the framed commendation. Docusign Envelope ID: D1FC855B-FBA1-4E82-87D5-2A4F2C528C79 RETIREE COMMENDATION WHEREAS, Nydia Smith has devoted 30 years of service to the County of Santa Clara, and during that time, has demonstrated the highest level of integrity, leadership, professionalism, collaboration, and dedication to the Probation Department and the County; WHEREAS, Nydia Smith began her career with the County of Santa Clara Probation Department in May 1994 as a Group Counselor – Extra Help. From the very beginning, she committed herself to serving youth, families, and the community with compassion and accountability. In July 1995, she became a full-time Group Counselor in Juvenile Hall and was promoted to Deputy Probation Officer I in January 1999; WHEREAS, Nydia Smith held numerous roles and responsibilities as a Deputy Probation Officer working in numerous units, including specialized units. Nydia Smith continued to advance her career by being promoted to Supervising Probation Officer in May 2013, where she supervised units in both the Juvenile and Adult Services Divisions of the Probation Department, providing her skills, leadership, and knowledge to lead her fellow officers; WHEREAS, Nydia Smith...
